While waiting to adopt, we've been encouraged to keep doing "life as usual". For us, that involves occasional travel! The difference is that now we are always taking the refundable options *just in case*. In May, we had the good fortune to attend a friend's wedding in San Jose. While we were there, we spent the weekend with Anna's sister and her family (including our baby niece!), and were able to catch up with some other friends in the bay area.
As an extra bonus, after the wedding we took a short trip to the Big Island of Hawaii! Highlights included seeing Volcanoes National Park, exploring black sand beaches, snorkeling, taking in the different wildlife, and volunteering at a farm animal sanctuary (because we're just that obsessed with animals).
